Wonderful place to bring the kids. They always are making new learning centers and activities. They seem to really care about making it a wonderful place. I'd highly recommended going!
A bit smaller than big city Maritime museum and aquarium, but well kept and nice, nonetheless. Had a butterfly exhibit in August that was beautiful!
ECHO is a fantastic place for all ages. What really shines about ECHO is the multitude of hands-on learning and exploration activities, especially for children. There is so much to learn about the nature of Lake Champlain. There are a number of aquariums and small exhibits. A few things to look for: the second floor kids play area is worth the membership, the library in the back is a wealth of information if you are a subject matter expert on Lake Champlain, and take a walk on the second floor outside deck to watch a beautiful sunset. Of course all the staff that I've encountered is very knowledgeable, kind, and ever-present for questions.
Would be a good place for kids. I just went to check out the fish. Nice small museum. Good fish selection.
I recently visited for a 'Teen Challenge, Vermont' GALA. There is a great space for events. I think Essex High school has hosted proms at this location, even.
This is an absolute must see for EVERYONE! I used to go here as a wee lad(y)... My mum's would bring us kiddos to be educated, and there is infinite learning opportunities. Since, they have renovated, and made it quite the museum. (If that's what it's called...)
Go, learn, enjoy!
